On my AMD Phenom-II box it doesn’t even load the kernel, and circular boots.
On a VM within VMware workstation (on top of Nehalem CPU), it does upgrade properly, but complains about .ICEAuthority files and the Desktop doesn’t start properly.
Oh, and the kernel seems to disagree with /etc/release:
root@solexp:~# cat /etc/release

ICE Error:
Could not update ICEauthority file /home/admin/.ICEauthority
And pressing Close gives:
Nautilus could not create the following required folders: /home/admin/Desktop, /home/admin/.nautilus
Before running Nautilus, please create these folders, or set permissions such that Nautilus can create them.
Hello,
I experinced exactly the same as you, I asked Oracle and was told that an image-update of Express to EA is not supported. It is a real shame.
Regards
Steve
I can’t even get it to install. Three Primary partitions: Windows, Solaris, Fedora. Seems to find the disk ok and marks the right partition to upgrade. Do timezone, user name, etc… and then it just sits at 0% installed. No disk activity. nobody home
Installed fresh – had to remove my Sun Cassini card (ce0) from the box and replace it with an old 3com 3c905 I had lying around.
It appears they’ve removed the SUNWce* packages from the distribution. A real shame as it made my half Lenovo, half sun workstation run pretty well with gigabit, without spending any cash.
Sun LCD monitor, keyboard, and network card – no sans Sun NIC.
